Virtual Reality uses 3D graphics technology for faster, more effective treatment using realistic simulations of stressful situations that can cause anxiety or panic. Here at NeuroThryve, virtual reality therapy is one component of treatment for certain aspects of anxiety and certain phobias including, but not limited to: fear of flying, fear of heights, fear of needles, fear of enclosed spaces, (including MRI machines, elevators or public transit) and fear of dogs, spiders or cockroaches.

For example, someone with a fear of flying can learn to regulate their thoughts and physical reactivity with cognitive-behavioral therapy and physiological monitoring or biofeedback and then have the opportunity to practice their skills in a virtual reality environment. VR simulations recreate lifelike situations that can be changed from easy to more difficult and personalized to an individual's concerns. This experience can help the individual prepare well and increase their likelihood of success in real life.
